My career
Before entering architecture, I studied Civil Engineering at
the Federico Santa María University for 2 years. Then I realized that this
career was not what I liked, so I decided to switch to Architecture, because
since I was at school I was interested in reading articles on this subject,
visiting the city, portraying it in photos, knowing how to and why the design
of buildings and cities, among other things. That was how, after giving the PSU
test, I applied to the best universities in the country that taught the
architecture degree. I chose the University of Chile for its prestige, its
social commitment to the country and the diversity of people with whom one can
relate; characteristics difficult to find in other education institutions.
While studying architecture, I must admit that I love going to classes to learn
subjects in which I am interested in learning, that motivates me a lot.
Despite the long days of work for the workshop, or the
theoretical subjects, I feel that the career has not stopped loving me. I feel a
huge satisfaction when I finish my work, and even more, when they are
recognized by my peers and my teachers.
Undoubtedly the fundamental requirement to study this career
is to have a true vocation for architecture, since it requires a lot of your
time outside the university, a price that - some like me - we are willing to
pay.
